CAG 2011 round 1 - Demons Vs Orks

Round one is always a interesting match up no one has any points and its completely up to chance who you play on what board. You don't really know what list you will be met up against. The only thing I didn't want to play round one was another Demon player. Other than that I thought I would be ok with just about any match up. However I then got what I called a perfect storm or challenge to play against. Looking back on it I can see I made some mistakes. Oh well live and learn. Lets go through what went down with some thoughts afterwards.

Opinions and musings on Pricing

DFK! back again.

Ok, so I imagine everybody out there over the age of 12 has heard the truism regarding Opinions and Assholes. Well, luckily, DFK!'s fecal contributions don't stink (this is blatantly untrue) and therefore neither does my opinion (this is possibly true). With that in mind, I find decided to make a post about the recent change in pricing of everybody's favorite (or at least the global leader) miniatures company: Games Workshop. The bad news is that I like to type, and I haven't in a while, so this post may get lengthy. Sorry! (TL:DR summary at the bottom)

Cool Mini or Not 11.22

The return of the Wet Nurse!!! yeah its like a dirty train wreck you can't look away from. The Wet Nurse model is one of the many back in stock over at Cool Mini or Not. They are slowly eating into my 40k fund I have to admit. That I have been breaking down and picking up a model or two since I have been doing the news letter. They are just too awesome to pass up sometimes and a couple in this batch has me considering a purchase again. Also a totally awesome sauce contest. Yep that's right ladies and gents a excuse to buy and paint a cool mini. The contest first place is 250 dollars store credit.. Details below all the other eye candy below. As always everything you see below is back in stock or new.

Finecast,Dark Eldar wracks, Forgeworld Giants, and a hint of sisters

So I don’t know about you guys but Resin is the secret word lately. When you mention it everyone in the room goes all pee wee's playhouse. People are still chatting up the price rises on all the products and the epic move that limits who may ship you your plastic and now resin crack and who can’t ship you stuff. It’s almost like watching a old school gangster film sometimes. I won’t re-touch on these issues since I already covered them here in a Resident Evil themed Rant. I had a request for more themed rants in the future so depending on the news I’ll be putting a few more of those together. Also I don’t want to steal DFK’s thunder since I think he plans on dropping in and throwing his opinion down on the money talks circling the nets in the near future. Anyway let’s do this thing…

CAG BASH 2011 - Overview

Cag Bash 2011 has come and gone. It took place over the weekend and actually was set up to have several mini tourneys going on inside of it. Warmachines, FOW and others. I went to the 40k event on Saturday and it was a good time but a little bit sad at the same time. I will admit the event was a really cool local event last year with a great turn out of like 50 or more people I think. Plus they give out nice prize support, with a cool trophy if you place. This year there was some falling out in the Cinci community and attendance was just under 30ish people I think. Don't get me wrong it was still a fun day and a fun event I was just a little surprised that it was smaller than last year.

Event Organizing 101 - Mike West

One of the main focuses of the Emperor’s Codex will always be to encourage our community in a positive manner. So any time I feel that the blog can is some way help out the local or online community in a positive manner I will most likely pursue that action. With that in mind I will be doing a series of articles on organizing events. I feel that the event organizers end up with what is sometimes a thankless job. Also that so little light or discussion is put into the behind the scenes aspects of running events. So to kick things off we will be doing some Event Organizing 101 and we will be kicking these off with some basic Q and A (not to be confused with basic T and A) with some fellow gamers from the community that take the time to put together events.
Last time we had Event Organizing 101 – Aaron Aleong from theback40k.blogspot.com

This time we have some Event Organizing 101 - Mike West from http://exitusactaprobat1.blogspot.com//

Cool Mini or Not 11.21

This is a day behind schedule (NOT because of the rapture that didn't happen), but Cool Mini or Not's mini eye candy news letter is out again. I however spent yesterday at CAG bash a local 1850 RTT here locally and it was a good time. I didn't win but I had some good games and took a ton of pictures The event is a bit more of a for fun event with the type of terrain and missions they throw out. So expect to see some info from that and then some battle reports here shortly. Until then though lets post up the shiny pictures from the news letter.

As usual everything is either new or back in stock. You can head over to cool mini or not to check out any of this stuff. Also just a quick note that insta mold is also back in stock.

Forgeworld Armor, Resin models, GW policy and price rises

So this week the Internet is ablaze with anger toward Games Workshop, the hinting at new resin models, the fact that everything is going to cost you more, and Forgeworld has new stuff. Although if you make the hops around the blogsphere you can see that mostly the news of the pricing issues has spread like the T -Virus across everything and angry tyrants are running wild with rants of anger. So lets "thriller" through a weekly round up.

CAG bash memories - 1850

Greeting one and all, I am sorry for the slow flow of updates I had been for sometime updating the site 4-5 times in 7 days but life catches up to you and the blog tends to fall by the wayside. I have been keeping to a Monday Wednesday Friday type schedule though which is a consolidation prize for myself personally. =)

I have so much to say about all the drama filled nonsense floating around the web this week. Price hikes, policy changes, and new resin!!! However I will wait until Friday since that’s how we roll here. In the meantime this Saturday is CAGBASH local RTT here locally. They will have several events much to the tune of cincycon and a 1850 40k event. I will most likely be taking the same list I took to adepti since I haven’t had time to really do much modeling. I might tweak it a bit, we will see.

In the meantime lets speed the blog up to 88 miles an hour and take a trip back in time to a year ago when I attended the first CAG bash last year.  I had really just started playing demons and my list was a bit random as I was still testing units out. This was the first real test run of the army for me and I learned a ton. My army wasn’t completely done yet so be warned lol. The bases are all white still among other small details of incomplete.

This week we have Event Organizing 101 – Aaron Aleong
Aaron was in the first group of guys that I have reached out to online to get some feedback and perspective on this subject. So here is a quick Q and A from Aaron. Aaron is pretty well known online as Spaguatryine but I'll go ahead and let Aaron speak for himself as we fire this off this monday.

Weekly run down - Blogger fail edition!!!

So blogger crashes and burns like someone thought it was a Rich Granddad on life support and pulled the plug. (accidently of course) This hosed any chances I had for posting up my normal Friday run down lol. I also wasn’t able to post the Forge world releases or the Cool mini or not news.  So since I know that everyone who can spell "40k" has posted up the forgeworld stuff I won’t do a little post about it on its own. Instead I will do mash up post of everything that would have gone up over the last couple days of blogger fail. So here is a combined SUNDAY little bit of everything post for everyone to scroll through  =P

Bungle in the Jungle VI - the Frontline

Follow up post to the Bungle in the Jungle event that you can see here.

The battle was epic as all apoc battles should be. There was about 24 generals leading their forces and showing allegiance (at least for the day) to one of the two commanders. The war torn jungle planet would be the site of mass destruction that would span the entire jungle world. The forces of order had been made up of  imperial forces and some agreement struck with the Xenos Eldar or perhaps a blind eye to another target that would absorb fire on the battle field. While the forces of disorder was made up of random forces of ill intent who all happen to arrive at the same time on the planet for unknown reasons.

BUNGLE in the JUNGLE VI

Spring time at our LGS always means it’s time for apocalypse tradition here locally. John and Jim put together a fund raiser to help support the USO. If you aren’t aware of the USO because you live under a rock of some kind or have been lost on an island for the last year randomly yelling “Jack” as you run through the jungle (I swear that was half that show) then here is a little blurb blatantly lifted from the USO website.

“The USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families.
Millions of times each year at thousands of locations around the world, the USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families.  A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities. The USO is not part of the U.S. government, but is recognized by the Department of Defense, Congress and President of the United States, who serves as Honorary Chairman of the USO”

Necron Scarabs, C'tan, and Vehicles oh my!

It's Friday and we all followed the yellow brick road through another week. This week there was a ton of chatter about rumors and news but all of it was about one thing. No I don't mean the Death of a certain evil terrorist. (Hurray for Justice)

The evil robot upgrades are the talk of the forum and blog sphere. So while I could fill two posts commenting on all the things that may or may not be true. Instead let’s treat the rumors like girls and just spend some time with the fun and interesting one’s.
