Necron, Forgeworld, and Adepticon

Good round up of Necron Rumors was posted over on Faeit 212. If you haven’t given it a glance I would suggest clicking over and passing judgment like a Christian in a whore house. Well maybe not exactly like that, but you get the idea.  The robot rumors appear to be in line with the direction of our primary addict dealer’s focus on making a much better all around product.  

If the rumors hold even slightly true not only will the robot zombies have actual options, but they might have a reason to have different color weapons. I fully expect to see Kirby's Necrons with glowy Pink power supplies at some point. =P

CincyCon Rnd 3 Demons VS IG

So Round 3 I get matched up against Eric (Warmonger) I have seen Eric at all kinds of local events and he is also at my local store often. I however had never been matched against Eric, which as I type this is kind of amazing since I think he has been at every event I have gone to.

So I have been planning to do a monthly or so army spotlight. I have been going over the format that I was going to use for this type of article for a month or so now.  I even had the first three or four people I was going to approach about doing an army spotlight picked out. Now it was a matter of finalizing layout and how often I would do one of these for the blog. Then something happened that no one ever expects. One of our own, from our circle at the store passed away. So this is going to be a little less light hearted than most the things I tend to write, because Ian was a fantastic guy. He was a wonderful addition to the crew of guys I have gotten to know here in the area and his loss has been felt greatly by everyone around him.

So out of respect the first Army Spotlight goes to Ian who was an incredible painter. He started to write up

CincyCon Rnd 2 Demons VS IG

Going into Round 2 I was pretty sure I was in second place just behind Edge (Sandman). We got matched up which is always a good thing. Edge is actually one of the local guys from my FLGS store Krystal Keep. Although between our two schedules we haven't played each other in some time. Edge is one of the best people you can play a game against. He is a solid player, always improving his tactics and lists. The best part though is he is one of those guys that you can banter, and joke with the entire game. We spent a ton of time laughing and joking around as usual and it didn't slow down our play at all. Always a great game with Edge doesn't matter if I win or lose.

So we continue to hear a slow stir of Sisters rumors that just basically confirm that they are in progress.  I have been waiting for sisters to get some new codex loving from GW and not just that awkward staring pause state that some gamers give the Unicorns when they walk through the room.  The sisters deserve some of that action that Dark Eldar just got and that hopefully the soulless legion of robots will soon get. The sister’s book currently is playable but in some twisted joke made real this all girl army is truly the gold digger army of 40k. Unless you are going to build an entire Forgeworld army I don’t think another army costs near as much as sisters. Although it’s no shock to anyone that girls are pricey, they like cars and money. ( No offense ladies I like cars and money too.) 

[40k 101] Feel No Pain

Feel No Pain is 40k’s version of reality TV. It can be annoying, frustrating, and hard to deal with at times. This ability was once mainly a nice perk of being a member of company Nurgle where every day is a sick day. Now with 5^th edition this ability is all over the table top. GW has decided this is the new drug craze and as your plastic crack dealer the first one is free.

Both Chaos books have this in Nurgle flavor for the most part, but sadly now with FNP all over the place the word plague before marine just

CincyCon Rnd 1 Demons VS Chaos Marines

I was randomly paired up against Dickie from the Martial Law crew. Dickie has been doing really well with his Chaos Marines in the last few events he has gone to. We played last year at CAG BASH which he ended up winning with his SW's. Our last  game was fun but my dice had decided my gaming for the day was over as I couldn't kill a vehicle to save my life. This is my first time playing him since.

CincyCon 2011 - Results

Saturday I attended the CIncyCon in Cincinnati, I am still new to the area only being here about 2 years so I didn’t even know about it last year. From what I can tell it’s a Gaming event run by gamers for gamers. When I say gamer I don’t mean 40k though, it was a mass meeting of several small tourneys for dozens of different game systems throwing down for world domination or the prevention of said domination.  They raffled off something like 1000 dollars in prizes from all kinds of game systems.

 I entered the 40k event so I wasn’t able to take tons of pictures of everything going on.. However that doesn’t mean I didn’t take some pictures of everything going on. =)

I found Drkmorals’ blog after it being forwarded by a friend when Drkmorals posted some pictures of his Ulthwe Eldar. Now I’ve always wanted to be one of these elusive “bloggers” that people all seem to put so much credibility in, but I know myself and I know I don’t have the discipline for regular updates.

Knights, Tau, and CincyCon

Codex Knights of grey is about to hit its final stages of net stardom here in the next few weeks. What, you don’t know the stages of net Stardom? Well I am no VET of the Hobby but it very clearly has been going something like this.

1.       Complain codex is out of date and GW has dropped the ball and forsaken said race

2.       Rumor of new codex finally gets its updates GW clearly won’t do this so dismiss

3.       Codex is sooo over powered it’s going to break the game forever GW why don’t you play test?

4.       Codex doesn’t do race justice the old one was better WTF GW this isn’t fair.

It’s still early, but despite the net koolaids from what I have seen it seems like a good release so far.  There are already test lists being put up and the big kids of the blog circle are already talking units

Demons VS Blood Angels 1500

My local store was about to have its 1500 points tourney so there was a number of people looking to play 1500 point games for practice. I didn't actually have my stuff to play at this points level but John at the store being the great stand up guy he is, let me borrow some of his models so I could throw something together. I decided this would be a good chance to play some blood letter spam and threw together a list based on what Yermom has been playing to test out. He has been playing it for some time and been doing pretty well with it, as he has been experimenting. On paper it looks interesting so I thought I would try it out.

Store Round up 3-12 Tournament Edition

My local FLGS the Krystal Keep in Kettering OH had a 1500 point tournament this Saturday. The event was run by Mike who is a great guy  and who runs a fantastic event. If you are in the area and can make it in the future I highly encourage you to come out for a fun day of dice and competition. 

I had family stuff I had to do that day and didn't get to throw my hat in the arena with the other guys this time around, but I was able to show up and take some pictures while the first round was going on. The turn out was great as usual I think around 30 players showed up.

[40k 101] Templates pt 1

I personally think all templates are your friend and I will discuss that later but today let’s talk about the flamer template. Being a pyro at heart this is my favorite template (even though I play two armies that don’t get to use this thing much orks and demons) if I could take it in mass I probably would. It has so many things going for it.

Let’s back up and talk about the 5^th edition rules in general first so we are on the same page.  5^th edition encourages certain things to thrive on the battle field. It changed the rules making armor king on the table top. It speeds up the game from the previous edition; it changes up leadership

Grey Knights some thoughts

I have another battle rep to put up and some other articles I have been messing with, but thought as a demon player I would just throw out some initial thoughts I have on the release. So unless you live under a digital rock of some kind and don’t read any blogs at all. In which case I am honored yet confused why you would start with mine? You know that the Grey Knights have an official date and are up for pre order. Lots of shiny slightly grabbed from GW’s website photo’s are all over the blog sphere and the forums as people await the leaked rumors to be confirmed or proven slightly wrong. (Yep these are the same pictures) The nets will be all about talking about the new book. You will hear about the new shiny grey even after you paint it army all over the place for awhile.

Being a Demon player I feel this release will have an impact upon my fellow warp in and kill marine brothers

So I ran into a travelling 40k player lol. He was in town from Florida and brought his Space Puppies with him. He came for work and took a little time off because he is from the area. Either way he was a great guy and we had a fun game. If he's reading this next time he's in town well have to have a rematch. Also you could email or comment on what your list was exactly since I didn't write it down. =/

[40k 101] The Meta Game

Metagaming is basically described as using information outside the game to affect your decisions within the game.  In 40k when talked about it’s generally used as a measure of deciding what you will bring in your list
to specific events or areas. For example if people are bringing foot orks or blob IG on a regular basis you might add more flamers to your army than you would normally play since this will help against several match ups in your store. The classic example of this I think is plasma. It seems that in some area’s they tend to take more plasma than other area’s because of the local meta game.
