Fat Sack 'O' Bitz

The Warstore sells a Random Grab sack of bitz that I have been thinking about getting for some time now. I didn't know that Spikey Bitz did a similar thing until Lantz at Miniature Wargaming Conversion wrote up a great read about how he ordered both and did a review.(Click here to read it) If you have ever window shopped the random bit lotto at either location I think its a good read to give you a basic Idea of what you are getting yourself into. This review plus the fact that I have a nice coupon from going to Adepticon made me decide to go ahead and order some of the bitz things I have been putting off buying up to this point for a few projects I have in mind.




Now I never been to the Spikey bitz site before I normally use The Warstore or one of the local places I play at to pick up stuff. I like to support the local shops that let us play there when possible. However the fact that they did a little give away and a coupon at Adepticon was a cool thing I thought, showing some love for the community and no doubt getting some advertising at the same time. So this is really my first time dealing with this store/company.

Initially I thought it was a little odd that a site that actually had bits in the name didn't have as large a selection as the Warstore from what I could tell. However as I glanced through what they did offer it appeared they are a bit cheaper for what they do carry so that's a plus. As a quick note here I did call the store to initially place my order and talked with someone over the phone who basically said that bit orders are easier to do online and recommended that I do it that way.

I got the package this weekend and dropped it on the carpet and took a few pictures with my phone to share with the community. I was very interested to see how it compared to the review I had read to see if there was a baseline of what to expect or if it was truly random and lotto like. The first thing you will notice from the picture is that unlike the one in the review my bag has sprue in it. Actually not only does it have sprue in it, but it has smaller bags of bitz inside of the larger Fat Sack O Bitz. So already the results are a bit different. In the review this bag was more product than the Warstore version because of the lack of sprue however in my sack I think based on the pictures Lantz took it appears to be pretty close to the same amount. Lets open it up and see whats inside.






Now here is a overview shot of whats inside. I'll actually go over a bit of what I ended up getting in some detail for you guys though. I won't name off everything because that would be insane, but I will mention the bulk of what I ended up with to help you guys get a clear idea of what you COULD end up with or how random it is. As I look through it for my initial impression of the goods.

First off it looks like I got a entire Eldar Floating heavy weapon gun thing with two crew guys from what I can tell. Its interesting that I think the entire build of the thing is here. 

As we continue from right to left it looks like I got a Chimera turret assembled, and some random missile launchers and Dark Angel stuff. 

Then more Dark Angels stuff. I would like to note that at least for me personally I also got Dark Angels bits with the free small bag of bits that everyone got in the Swag Bag from Adepticon. So I am inclined to think that maybe you will always get some Dark Angels something. Which is fine since the little icons are cool looking and I will prob stick the little evil angel symbols on my sisters stuff I make later to give it some variety. 

I got the complete top of a IG Sentinel all in a smaller bag. 

I also got the Captain or Space marine HQ model from the Black Reach set. 

There appears to be maybe 3 fantasy items total in my little bag. Which doesn't matter either way to me personally being a Demon player and a converter I can usually find a way to use the fantasy bits for something interesting. Also I think that Lantz did pretty well in his random grab bag as far as quantity VS what I ended up with. Thats how the game is played though lol so I don't mind at all just wanted to point out not to expect to get about double the amount of the warstore bag like he did in his review. I didn't get anything newer as far as the kits from what I can tell, no DE, or Knights stuff at all. I am happy with the purchase overall though not upset in any way. Its more stuff to mod with. I will be placing a Warstore order in the near future to get a few bits that I couldn't get through Spikey though, if I end up getting the grab bag from them too I will post it up to see how that compares to this one for me personally and compared to what was posted  in the other review.
