The Road to CAG-BASH: Part 7
...turning into the home stretch!
Day two of the CAG-Bash tournament. I'm 3-0 going into today, and I feel much better after a good night of sleep. Day 1 was a loooong day, and I basically just went home and crashed after it was over.
I feel good going into day 2. I'm undefeated, but I did have a very tough game 2 against Tyranids. I'm hoping I don't have to face any more of them, but it will come down to luck of the draw. As it turns out, I end up against the Ultimate Spoiler Army for this game!

Adepticon 2013 - 40k Team army pictures pt 2
Welcome back as we continue to cover things that happened at Adepticon. Last time I realized that we had just too many pictures for one post so I split the team event into two posts. Let's kick it off with a look at the rest of the Team armies on display.

The Road to CAG-BASH: Part 6
...cruising to the end of a long first day while a black (k)night falls
Welcome back to another exciting battle report! I hope your 40k projects are going as well as mine are: I'm currently 90% of the way finished building my Tau! I spent a LOT of time this weekend magnetizing the crap out of my army. I should be able to run my 3 Crisis suits in any possible configuration with all the magnetizing and bits I bought. I even magnetized all my drones!
But, back to CAG-Bash. To recap: I'm up 2-0 in the tournament so far. My first game against Daemons went well, but I barely squeaked out a win against Tyranids in the second round. This will be my third battle for the day...and that makes for a looong day. This was also a very interesting battle for me. Remember in my Battle Report against Daemons how I was anguished about never having played them before? Well, that's also true for this next battlle, because I'm up against...

Adepticon 2013 - 40k Team armies pictures pt 1
Day 2 I spent playing in the 40k Team Event but before playing I walked the floor to take in the sites. If you have never seen a Adepticon Team event you are missing out. More people come to show off, and dress up or go for theme than to actually smash face. Normally a really fun event. Let's take a look at some of the awesome armies and display boards.

The Road to CAG-BASH: Part 5
...Bugs on the windshield, and I'm all out of Windex
I’m up 1-0 in the tournament after winning my first
game. And I’m feeling pretty good about
it. However, as soon as the second round
pairings went up, my stomach dropped.
I hate Tyranids. I
couldn’t tell you what it is about them, but I always perform poorly against bugs. I think they get a bad rap on the
interwebz. Tyranids are a tough army,
and they have a lot of tricks in 6th edition that can push them to
be top contenders. The sheer number of
Monstrous Creatures they are able to field can be overwhelming.
However, I have one thing going for me this game that I
think will tip things in my favor…

The Road to CAG-BASH: Part 4
...Making good time
So here we are. CAG-Bash. The Big Dance. Varsity League. My first large tournament! CAG-Bash is a relatively large and growing event that occurs annually in Southwest Ohio (if you live in the area, check it out!) and draws people from Lexington to Dayton. It's not as big as any of the National tournaments each year, like Adepticon, or the Bay Area Open, but at least to this first timer, it seemed pretty big. The tournament had 34 participants this year, which seems like a good number. And it grows every year! I'm fortunate enough that I live in an area where 40k is very popular. I can walk in to my local store almost any day of the week and find someone playing. On Saturdays, the store is usually packed, which is great.
But this was not my local game store on a Saturday. This was serious business!

Tablescapes and Adepticon 2013
First off Tablescapes are awesome
I was going to do a nice write up but Citizensmith already did a great post with some Q and A with Mr Justin about the product and the direction he is going. If you don't know what this is then head over to Kickstarter and take a look.

It's a fantastic option for people to have play tables at home that they can put away in a box easily I think plus the options for display boards is really cool.
STC article on the subject can be found here with some nice Q and A

Now as of Thursday Adepticon 2013 is going on. I'll be arriving on Friday sometime, and fellow STC member Lantz will also be making the rounds through out the event.
